Description
Letter from Edward Thomas to his wife, Helen Thomas. Archival reference: 424/1/1/1/1/94

My Dearest friend
I have no thought
& no passion now, [illegible] desire,
and though if I could pause
in my hurried life desire would summon up thousands
of beautiful & voluptuous
images, I must not,
desire is easily supressed [sic]. Until
Saturday, I think & dream
of nothing but your
breasts, your hair,
your eyes in the silent
darkness of night. One [illegible]
I have - that you be well
& not torn by impatience.
Thank you for your letters,
though I am mean enough
to think only of the
throbbing bosom, the [illegible]
brain, the tingling
limbs that inspired them:
wait & I will cling
to you & we shall
make mighty atonement
for time, my own
sweet little one.
Goodbye dearest one.
Ever & wholly yours Edwy.
My anemone maiden
Goodnight
Adieu
