My dear Gordon,
Thanks you for your
letter. It is raining hard & our
respectable severe hostess intimates that
we must not get wet through &
cumber her with dripping clothes,
so we stay in with the antimacassars.
That does suit letters but I
write just to send time along until
the weather clears. Understand &
forgive.
About your essays. Yes
1000 or 1500 on the painters
might make a fine quintessential thing - English painters. I can
give you until the end of
December for the two, but if
they come earlier all the better, because
I shall certainly have many other
contributors delaying & calling for
the goad.
Mrs. Freeman is the
Daughty specialist on the Academy.
In 6 weeks we may very
likely be at Petersfield. If not,
then at Balham. In either case

My dear Gordon
Thank you for your
letter. It is raining hard & our
respective severe host
shall I see you? Could you have
a week at Petersfield if we are
there? When we are there, I will send the address.

Thanks for news about
Colum. Maurice Joy is important
because of (1) his tie or bow,
(2) his reputed good looks (3) his
flow of quotations from second-rate
writers & talkers on art etc. I am
thus rude: he never acknowledged
a M. S. prose poem (The way Wars)
which I copied in to the "Rose Acre
Papers' which Mrs. Podmore sent to
him.
The other day a man wrote
to me asking for the Welsh original
etc of my 'Eluned'.
Do you know any good Irish
songs (with possible words) for
my Anthology? We have now
got 50 very fine songs, including
medieval words & melody on
the coming of the Ass out of the
East.
The rain continues, but so dos
my disability.
Helen's love - mine to you
& Emily - your father & mother -
Aunt Sarah. Every yours
Edward Thomas
