Description
Brass statuette of Rawan, the Five Headed Demon of Ceylon, mounted upon a wild boar, with shield and sword. One (central) head shown wearing a hat, one (rightmost) wielding a sword, the leftmost holding a shield.
The demon of Lanka, Ceylon, riding on wild boar, was vanquished in the great battle against Rama and his army, mentioned in the Ramayana, an Indian epic. He is not worshipped, but kept as an object to perpetuate the history of his defeat. (Taken from Text at time of Acquisition)
