Staying in Barry 1930s -

Description

These are pages 6-7 from the booklet Barry for Varied Enjoyment: The Gem of Welsh Seaside Resorts published by Barry Urban District Council Town Development Committee. The booklet is undated but probably from 1930s.
One page is an advertisement for "Ellan Vannin" at Cold Knapp, offering 'Hotel Conveniences with Home Comforts' with gas fires in the rooms and garage. Like most other Guest Houses and Private Hotels in Barry, this too is managed by a woman.
The facing page advertises "Glan-y-Mor" a 'Modern Residential Holiday Centre', part of the Welsh YMCA. It features a dark room and shower baths and promises "Pure Ozone from the Atlantic speedily produces Healthy Bronzed Faces".
