Castle Street, Swansea

Description

War damaged Castle Street junction with Temple Street view looking south, with the shell of Ben Evans store in the centre
Personal Memories:
I like the fact the 2 men are probably still going to work!
I was four at the time, we lived in Bathhurst Street alongside of the gas works. During the bombing we used to go down in the cellar of the pub on the corner of Mumbles rd. (Roy Griffiths)
My grandfather who survived 4 years in the infantry in WW1, was on his way to the air raid shelter which was in the T.A centre by the Guildhall (now the Crown court) and was killed by shrapnel from British shell fire during the 3 night blitz and was killed aged 51. (J.W Richards)
