Salmon Puchers Goldcliff Newport
Description
These are the remains of the ranks which would have held salmon puchers. A pucher was a basket that was used to catch salmon. They were used as a trap the fish swam in but were unable to get out and were then collected when the tide dropped. An interesting counterpoint between the old and the new is the view of the Severn bridge in the background.
