Carnival Queen meets the King
Description
Rachel Johnson (née Jones) was Clydach Carnival Queen in 1938 and worked in the Mond Nickel Works. In 1944 King George VI and the Royal Family visited the Mond. Rachel was pushed from a platform and landed in front of the King. They spoke briefly and a photograph was taken. Mr Bailey, the Works Manager sent Rachel a copy of this photograph with a covering Works Memo confirming that it was a picture of her.
