Working Underground
Description
Cine film of surface working at Clydach Merthyr (Nixon's) colliery in the late 1950s. Showing men stoking a furnace, unhitching trains of drams drawn up from underground and wearing caps with plates for carbide lamps. A group of men from the fitters shop are seen and named. Then the weighbridge men, one representing the owners and the other the miners. The film finishes with a scenes of a 'boy' spragging the drams to slow them down.
