John's memories of the Garw valley

Description

John talks about the Garw river (black as ink), walking to school, eating eels, his family's coal levels at Pont-y-Rhyl, the medical aid ambulances operating in every valley years before the NHS started in 1948, his two years in the pit aged 15 and the removal of silt from the river to make nylon in the early 1950s.

Recorded during the Llangeinor Summer Fair, Aug 1913.
