Description
The 1st Battalion are remembered for their role at Mametz Wood (First Battle of the Somme), 7-12 July, 1916 whilst the 2nd battalion endured the horrors of the Battle of Passchendaele (Third Battle of Ypres) between June and November 1917. The Royal Welch also took part in the Christmas 1914 unofficial truce and football game.
