Pillbox, Ynyslas

Description

In 1941, a network of defensive positions was established around the coast of Britain to protect against a German invasion. Their hexaginal shaped, reminiscent of the small medicene boxes, earned them their common knickname. These defensive positions were manned by the local homeguard. No 15 and No 16 Platoons of the 1st Cardiganshire Battalion, Home Guard. No 15 Platoon were responsible for Taliesn and Dolybont. No 16 Platoon covered Borth, Llandre and Dolybont. After the threat decreased, MOS EE AA Ynyslas reused the platform created by the pillboxfor instrumentation to record the trajectories of test rockets and missiles.
