Blaenau Ffestiniog is hemmed in by steep rocky cliffs and towering mountains of slate waste, and this rocky overhanging outcrop dramatically punctuates the urban landscape along the major traffic artery in the town. Beyond, accessed by the narrow lane which climbs under the overhang, are the late nineteenth-century terrace houses of Summerhill.
