Description
Drawing by Falcon Hildred. St. Mary's Avenue, Overton-on-Dee,1991.
Pencil and watercolour on paper.
These council houses on St Mary's Avenue in Overton-on-Dee, north Wales, are typical of post-war local authority houses. The semi-detached, two and three bedroom properties were constructed to provide good quality homes for the families displaced by the demolition and redevelopment of overcrowded houses in industrial towns and cities. These houses had a front and back garden, and were usually arranged around open green spaces shared by residents.
