Spillers’ curved warehouse, Cardiff, 1987
Description
Drawing by Falcon Hildred
Spillers' curved warehouse, Cardiff, 1987
Pencil on paper.
This is one of a series of preparatory drawings made in 1987 for an exhibition at the Andrew Knight Gallery in Cardiff. Nearly all the finished drawings were sold; their whereabouts are now unknown. The warehouse was built in 1893 as part of a complex of steam roller flour mills processing 100,000 tons of wheat a year. The unusual north face was curved to follow the line of a railway siding. The warehouse has now been converted into apartments.
