Moelwyn Mill, Tanygrisiau, 1972

Description

Drawing by Falcon Hildred
Moelwyn Mill, Tanygrisiau, 1972
Ink, candle wax and watercolour on wrapping paper
This is one of a number of drawings made to support proposals for the restoration and part-conversion of Moelwyn Mill, the only woollen mill in Wales to retain its fulling stocks for finishing cloth. This version proposes the addition of a shop at the end of the mill house with a small flat above and a scheme to retain the machinery as a working museum and to provide an outlet for the mill's products. Falcon's interest helped to get the mill listed and Gwynedd Council restored the mill and is machinery in the 1970s, but it remains vulnerable.
