Blaenau Ffestiniog is hemmed in by steep rocky cliffs and towering mountains of slate waste, and this rocky overhang dramatically punctuates the urban landscape along the main road in the town. Beyond, accessed by the narrow lane that climbs under the overhang, are the late nineteenth-century terrace houses of Summerhill.
