The track that winds its way through the defences to the top of the cliffs has the remnants of walling and white pipe-clay underfoot. The rocky point below this has been crudely levelled and used for a loading and unloading point for ships carrying clay and/or bricks from the clay-pit and brickworks that stood to the east of Flimston Chapel. I was told this by a former gamekeeper on the Stackpole Estate.
