Description

Part of one of the name boards from the Gibbs Bright steamer, ROYAL CHARTER, has been recovered and gifted to the Llyn Maritime Museum, Nefyn.

From character of the letters shown here, can you recreate what the original name board would have looked like? Is there anything distinctive about the typeface used?

The board was probably painted in bright colours or perhaps gold leaf, and had a carved decorative border. Design your own nameboard adding motifs you think suitable for the ship.

Whereabouts on the ship do you think this name board might have been placed?
