Platypus

Description

2007.163 - Ornithorhynchus anatinus, is from Australia, and is one of only five living mammals which lay eggs. Known as monotremes, these mammals were more common tens of millions of years ago. When people in Europe first saw a platypus skin, they thought it was a hoax.
