SM1953.110.10 - This shell from the H. W. Wakefield Collection is that of Tridacna gigas, the giant clam. This is the largest living bivalve mollusc, and is one of the most endangered species. In the wild, it can live for over 100 years and is found in the Indian and Pacific oceans. This specimen lived about 6,000 years ago.
