ROYAL CHARTER: Exploring the Wreck Underwater

Description

In July 2014, Cotswold Archaeology undertook a survey of the underwater remains of the wreck of the Royal Charter on behalf of Cadw. This short video clip is taken from the video camera mounted the diver's helmet as they slowly swim along a small section of wreckage that can still be seen on the seabed.

The wreckage comprises the iron plates that were used to make the outer skin of the ship's hull and the internal strengthening frames.

The wreckage is now a haven for marine life.
