A cast replica of Caerleon’s Roman genius togatus or ‘genie, or spirit, in a toga’.

Description

A cast replica of Caerleon’s Roman genius togatus or ‘genie, or spirit, in a toga’ figure. This figure was the personal guardian spirit of the head of a household or a group of soldiers. The figure wears a toga and the toga covers the head because the figure is shown making sacrifice and praying to the gods.

He was lost or abandoned at Caerleon in the fourth century AD (about 1,700 years ago).
