Mr Reid was born in Manchester, Jamaica in 1931 and travelled to the UK in 1957. He lived in London for nearly five years before moving to Newport in April 1962.

He found the friendliness in Wales very different to London. At that time, Caribbean men would regularly meet in local pubs to socialise.
