Mr Aston Thompson and his wife Marian Thompson, née Hudson on their wedding day. He first met his wife in Jamaica while she was travelling with her mother, an island evangelist. Shortly after arriving in the UK Mr Thompson wrote to her mother to ask for her daughter’s hand in marriage.

Fortunately for him, Marion had, by this time, moved to the UK and was living with cousins in Gloucester.

Encouraged by her mother’s blessing, she got in touch with him and the couple were married in Gloucester on 13 October 1962. They moved to Newport and later settled in Magor.
