Pont Minllyn bridge

Description

View of Pont Minllyn Bridge (C1640) at Dinas Mawddwy.
Pont Minllyn Bridge is probably 17th century. Built of stone, it is a twin-arched bridge thought to have been built by Dr. John Davies, Mallwyd, the famous Welsh scholar, 1604-1634. It consists of two segmental spans of radial rubble voussoirs with a regulating course, springing from rock abutments on to a centre water pier, which has cutwaters on each side. The east abutment has been reinforced with stone. The upper structure of the bridge has been lost, and is now grassed.
