Description
Ink, watercolour and charcoal on paper, John Piper circa 1946-47.
Purchased by Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales in 1983.
Devil’s Kitchen is the most striking feature of Cwm Idwal. This gully is visible in the upper right of the
composition. In the middle ground is Llyn Idwal and in the lower areas Piper has introduced green and red to suggest grass and possibly lichen.
