Traditonal Welsh stone cottages

Description

Semi-detatched traditional cottages, typical to the agricultural landscape it sat within. The cottages, now demolished, were situated on Llantrisant Road, Pant y Brand, just outside Tonyerfail.

Pant y Brand's literal translation is Betrayal Hollow and it was told locally that this is where the last Prince was betrayed before later being captured by the English during the late 1200's.

From family oral stories, the cottage would have been at least a hundred years old at the time photographed and did not survive much more than a few years after.

Photograph taken circa 1900.
