Carved from Alder wood. 2014. Alder wood falls under the Celtic moon months 18th March - 14th April. Alder wood is most associated with the story of Bran the Blessed (Bendigeidfran or Brân Fendigaidd). Traditionally, Bran carried an Alder wand during the “Battle of The Trees” at Cad Goddeu. This spoon was styled on the Tree of Life, a concept adopted by many cultures. Here we have the branches reaching towards the "Godhead", with humanity held in the roots that go deep into the earth, the trunk acting as a conduit between both.
