Portrait of John Roberts (Ieuan Gwyllt) 1822-77. John Roberts was a minister and a Welsh musician who was known as Ieuan Gwyllt, a name that he used when writing a poem as a young boy. He was an avid composer of hymns and founded several music festival including the Gwent and Morgannwg. He was also a conductor and an editor of a number of Welsh periodicals. He was born near Aberystwyth and died in Caernarvon in 1877.
