This banner dates from the late 1930s and includes a portrait of Mrs Despard and La Pasionaria. Mrs Despard formed the Women's Freedom League in 1907 and became a member of the Communist Party in 1930. La Pasionaria (Dolores Ibárruri) was member of the Spanish Communist Party and chief propagandist for the Republicans during the Spanish Civil War. The banner was donated by the Welsh Communist Party to the South Wales Coalfield Collection in 2002
