In this letter, Hannah Edwards gives an account of the attack on Gelliglyd by the followers of Rebecca, and warns of their intention to destroy the Hendy and Pontarddulais gates.

Transcription:

'Sir,
Mr. Davies Cefenybryn told my father this morning that the Rebeccaites had been at John Evans Gellyglyd's last night and have destroyed all he has besides what they have taken away we have also heard that they mean to break down Hendy and Pontardulais Gates tonight we thought it best to let you know as you can ...'
