Description

Translation:
'Henry the Eighth by the grace of God of England, France and Ireland King , Defender of the Faith and on earth Supreme Head of the English and Irish Church to the sheriff of Caernarvon, greeting. We order you that you omit not on account of any liberty in your bailiwick but that you enter it and cause to come before our Justices assigned to keep the peace in your county and to hear and determine divers felonies, trespasses and other misdemeanours perpetrated in the same county on Monday next after the feast of Epiphany next to come at Caernarvon twenty four free and lawful men from each hundred and from each borough in your bailiwick aforesaid to do there those things which shall be enjoined upon them on behalf of the lord the king. Furthermore you are to make known to all stewards, constables, subconstables and bailiffs within the hundreds and boroughs aforesaid that they are then to be there having with them adequately put in writing all the names of artificers, labourers and servants within their bailiwicks taking [wages] in excess against the form of the ordinances and statutes. Moreover, you are to cause it to be proclaimed that all those who wish as well as for us as for themselves to complain or prosecute any suits against these same artificers, labourers and servants according to the form of the ordinances and statutes aforesaid are then to be there before the Justices to prosecute in respect thereof. And you yourself are then to be there with the bailiffs of the hundreds, liberties and boroughs aforesaid having with you all the names of stewards, constables [and] jurors and this precept. Witness[es] being John Puleston, knight and his associates, our Justices for the Peace in your county. Given on the 20th day of December in the 38th year of our reign.'
