Description
Colonel Pennant writes to Lord Newborough to inform him that a decision was made to keep the troops at Penmaen-mawr until 'all apprenhension of a renewal of riot is over'. He gives the views of Graham and Wyatt regarding the troops' date of departure: the former advised him to write to Sir Thomas Arbuthnot if he wanted the troops to remain.
Colonel Pennant also discusses the latest developments regarding the Worcester to Porth Dinllaen Railway. A deputation, including Sir G. Clarke as Lord Dalhousie's representative, went to the Board of Trade to enquire whether a veto was to be put on any further extension of the broad gauge (railway) system.
