The Caergwrle Bowl

Description

This Middle Bronze Age bowl was discovered during drain digging beside the River Alun, near Caergwrle Castle, north Wales in 1823. Gold foil circles around the Caergwrle bowl mimic the shields of Bronze Age sailors. 1300-1150 BCE. Approximately half of the original bowl remains, the remainder having been restored.Accession number: 12.128
