Old Fireplace Pricatson c 1983
Description
This image, which is rather difficult to interpret, shows the right hand pillar support for a first floor fireplace. This pillar would have supported a stone built fire-hood of medieval origin. The ragged remains of a blocked lower floor entrance can be seen on the bottom edge of the photograph. The wall below the fireplace is slightly thicker and this might indicate that there was a stone vault over the lower floor that has since been removed. this wall forms part of what became a brewhouse at the rear of the farmhouse.
