Photographs of Tairgwaith

Description

Tairgwaith
Tairgwaith Working Men's Club
Contributed by David Moore (Dec 2004) whose grandfather, David Rees (Pencaedu family), is in the second photograph.
If anyone can accurately date it then please let me know (I'm guessing early 1930s), and of course some more names would be good too.
(The photograph has been split into two halves in order to preserve detail and be completely viewable on a standard computer screen - the original left side is the first half below.)
Names for the first photograph (all directions are as one looks at the photographs)
RHYS JOHN DAVIES (Roy Davies's paternal grandfather) is standing behind and to the right of the man with hat and moustache in the centre of the photograph. He was known as 'Rhys John Gof' who used to operate Nantygasseg blacksmith's shop at the corner of the first turning to the right at the cross roads just before Abernant Colliery when travelling from Cwmgors to Pontardawe. His wife was Elizabeth Davies nee Jones who was the sister of Margaret Ann Jones who married David Rees, Pencaedu seen in the photograph below.
JONAH DAVIES, step brother of Rhys John Davies, is seated to the left of the two persons sitting on the ground in the front. Jonah was the father of Jack Davies - 'Jack peps' who ran the 'Mount' public house in GCG
Names for the second photograph
DAVID REES (Pencaedu)is on the right side, top row, second in, leaning over wearing a flat cap. It is said that 'Dai Pencaedu' used to be the Club Treasurer for many years and Emrys Cooper (who used to be the club steward)remembers Dai frequently walking home to Pencaedu with a candle in a jam jar to light his way.
THE LADY WITH THE DOG and the gentleman next to her *may* be Mr and Mrs Thomas who ran Bakers grocery shop.
Footnote
The above David Rees Pencaedu is the son of the maternal great grandfather (same name) of Gareth Hicks
