Baran Chapel on Baran Mountain, Rhydyfro, built 1805

Description

Once the focal point of an isolated community of worshippers, Baran Chapel had a congregation of 400 and benefited from its position on the Swansea to Ammanford Road.

Today however, its locale is remote and its congregation small - a decline which began at the end of the 19th century with the emigration of 40 local families to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
