David Lloyd George
The first Welshman to be Prime Minister of Britain, David Lloyd George was a Liberal who is credited as being the father of the 'Welfare State' thanks to his People's Budget of 1910. A Welsh-speaking Nonconformist, he was brought up in Llanystumdwy in Gwynedd.
