Hook History Society
Hook History Society was formed in 2012 with the purpose of encouraging the study and recording of the fascinating history of the village and its neighbouring communities. It arranges a series of talks, outings and history related walks majoring on the now defunct coal industry and diminishing compass net fishing.
The Society has updated the printed history of the village, WHERE THE RIVER BENDS, and produced two highly acclaimed DVDs; restored a centuries old lime kiln and erected approved road signage heralding Hook as the BLACK DIAMOND VILLAGE.
