Neil Sinclair was a Cardiff historian. He wrote and published the first social history of Butetown, The Tiger Bay Story (1993), as part of his ongoing efforts to collect and record the history of the community. His compassionate account of Mahmood Hussein Mattan's conviction encouraged the family to pursue reopening the case and successfully overturn the wrongful verdict.
