Chief Constable Lionel Lindsay

Description

A 'Cabinet' photograph, mounted on hard card. On the rear is written ' Chief Constable Lionel Lindsay on Reuben'. The date would be approx. 1910. Captain Lionel Lindsay first served as a Superintendent at Merthyr Tydfil. He joined in that rank, his father then being Chief Constable of Glamorganshire. Lionel Lindsay subsequently became Chief Constable, and served the Glamorganshire Constabulary for a total of 48 years. Between them, the Lindsays' length of continuous service totalled almost 100 years. The photograph is part of the Ross Mather Police Memorabilia Collection.
