A World War 1 Christmas tin commissioned in 1914 by Princess Mary and given to troops for Christmas 1914. Princess Mary fundraised money so soldiers could have treats for Christmas. The tins were filled with things like tobacco, chocolate and a photo of Princess Mary. It has a portrait of Princess Mary on the tin and the words 'Imperium Britannicum'.

The tin now contains a variety of items including photographs and a New Testament Bible from 1939.

The photographs are of my Grandfather, H.G. Lucas, from Porthcawl, South Wales. who was a bomber in the RAF in World War 2. The tin was given to him by his Grandfather Hugh Edwards, who was given it in the trenches in World War 1.

The bible belonged to my Grandmother, Violet Lucas. She worked in Bletchley Park during the war.
