Letter from David Jones to the Rev. Michael D. Jones, 30 October 1865 [page 1, image 1 of 4]

Description

David Jones (Mab Anian), Nantyrhyd, writes to ask Michael D. Jones what steps will be taken to honour the first contingent of Welsh settlers who sailed for Patagonia on board the 'Mimosa' in 1865. He suggests that medals should be presented to the settlers - gold and silver medals for the leaders of the Settlement (Michael D. Jones, Lewis Jones and Cadfan Gwynedd), and bronze medals for the others. In his opinion, this would be the most appropriate way to honour the pioneers of the Welsh Settlement. He also provides details and a drawing of the design of the proposed medal.
