This was the Land Rover Fire Tender retained by Bristish Aluminium to fight fires inside the factory premises. The use of kerosene as a lubricant & coolant on the cold rolling mills running at up to 500 feet per minute required a prompt reaction to apply foam in the event of an uncontrollable fire. Although these cold strip mills were fitted with automatically activated CO2 systems that could flood the mill with carbon dioxide in seconds if a fire was detected.
