Photoscoot 2020: originaly the London and Midland Bank, Great Darkgate Street, Aberystwyth

Description

The map accompanying the 'Aberystwyth Official Guide and Souvenir' published by the Aberystwyth Corporation in 1924 places the London and Midland Bank at this location. The building was originally the North and South Wales bank and dates to around 1908-9. It was built to a design by Woolfall and Eccles, architects of Liverpool. The bank's Welsh origin is recorded in the Prince of Wales heraldic badge of three feathers and the Welsh dragon high on the façade. The building is now Grade II listed.
