Letter from the Rev. D. Lloyd Jones to the Rev. Michael D. Jones, 8 February 1879 [page 1, image 1 of 16]

Description

Letter from the Rev. D. Lloyd Jones, Chubut, to the Rev. Michael D. Jones, 8 February 1879. He writes about the uncertain political situation of the Welsh Settlement and the urgent need for a charter. He believes that the political uncertainty is due to the fact that one man, namely Lewis Jones, wishes to pursue a position of authority within the Argentine Republic. In his opinion, Lewis Jones has behaved in a thoroughly 'unprincipled' way in all his dealings regarding the Settlement and that he has done everything in his power to cause conflict between the Settlement and officials of the Argentine government. He also mentions his own activities as a minister of religion in the Settlement and the need for a missionary society in South America.
