This cutting is the opening paragraphs of the obituary of William Anthony Hewlett of Briton Ferry 1884-1958. Anthony left school aged 12 years but retained a lifelong thirst for knowledge and education. He was active in the Workers' Educational Association and won scholarships for himself to study at Cambridge. He visited the Soviet Union with the Iron & Steel Federation between the wars. He was a prominent member of the Briton Ferry Debating Society.
