Albert and Chris Crandon, supplying ice and coal
Description
Albert Crandon with son Chris next to their company vehicle supplying ice and coal. Albert had teamed up with a man named Durkin after working in Miller Rubber Co., Akron, Ohio.
Households used large blocks of ice to keep food cool in 'ice boxes'. Blocks were often harvested from local ponds. They chilled the ice box by absorbing heat as they melted so a drip pan was needed underneath.
