Medical Practices in Early Utah Territory
Description
Early settlers in Utah Territory, many thousands of whom were from Wales, often found themselves without the services of medical practitioners, and learnt to rely on a combination of herbal medicine and faith healing. This article describes the development of medical care in the territory, from these frontier conditions to a time when both men and women were sent for formal medical training in the eastern States.
The article first appeared in Ninnau, the North American Welsh newspaper, in July 2022 and appears here with the permission of the Editor.
