The house flag of Alfred Holt & Co. Ltd, Liverpool. A rectangular blue flag bearing a white diamond in the centre with a black monogram ‘AH’ for Alfred Holt, the founder of the shipping company that bore his name.

Alfred Holt (1829-1911), began his career as a railway engineer and went on to act as a consultant engineer in the design and development of steam ships. In 1853 he went into the ship operating business. In 1865 he registered a new concern - the Ocean Steam Ship Company with vessels fitted with new and improved types of engine. The company then commenced its steam services to the far east, that continued for many years.

Following a number of takeovers and amalgamations the name of Alfred Holt and Co Ltd went out of use in 1967 and the resultant company ceased to be a ship owner in 2000.
